A friend mentioned your Blesh biography and I looked you up and immediately wished I had run into you earlier. Shining Trumpets and The All Played, plus later, contacts w Charlie Thompson, Joseph Lamb, and Bob Darch, changed my course of music forever and it has been ragtime ever after, since 1957. I was fortunate to have met Blesh on my first US visit in 1966 and also bring asked to supply a rag for the new, then, edition of the book. BTW, I own the Dan Burley 78 album, have always cherished and wished there was more of him...since middle seventies and up to some years in the 2000's I have played Us ragtime festivals, Sedalia mostly,,and of course I met Blesh there as well. He was a great, enthusiamic writer and I enjoy the test of his books as well.

Nice site for the RagtimesSociety. The memoir/history/music notes are good to read. Cookin' on the front burner, dear nephew....Rudi would have loved it!

Carl, The 2 articles on this site are wonderful and important. I have been doing research on the history of American Pop music and this fills in a lot of gaps. I miss your grandfather. Would be great to see you. thanks for putting this stuff on the web.
